Global Missions used my story!

Earlier this month, the Global Missions team for the Mid-Atlantic region asked if they could use part of my prayer letter in their bi-weekly update on the ministry in Botswana. My phone blew up with Facebook messages, texts, and emails from staff friends around the region telling me that they read the update, shared it with the students in their movements, and prayed for me and for Botswana. It may be silly, but getting to share what God did, and is still doing, in my life through my time in Botswana is really exciting to me! To God be the glory.

The Best Summer Ever
By Summer Project Director Kirstin Heyne
I tend to be an excitable person, and I speak in hyperbole a million times a day, but this summer was sincerely the best of my life thus far. I have dreamed of the day I would go to Africa for eleven years, which is most of my adult and Christian life. I prayed faithfully, saw my own plans fail over and over again, and wondered if the Lord even heard me, wondered if He would ever show up. Every single day in Botswana was a reminder of God’s love and His perfect timing. I experienced His goodness so richly, so tangibly, that my faith was bolstered. Reaping the fruit of trusting Him for Africa reminded me that waiting on the Lord is always wise, never foolish. And it was as if the Lord whispered to me, during one especially sweet time with Him, that it is wise to wait on Him for other big things, too, like the salvation of my family or getting married one day, no matter what the world may say or how long I may have to wait.
Praise
For God's faithfulness in sending me to Africa after eleven years. Praise Him for renewing my vision for ministry as I led Summer Project
Pray
For many students to follow Christ this year at University of Botswana, Botho University, and New Era College
Pray
Last year the STINT team had difficulty acquiring residency permits. Pray that this year's team would receive their permits before the current ones expire on Nov. 30

August Update

Botswana Recap

As Project got busier, I ran out of time to write my planned weekly updates.

I plan on adding a few detailed descriptions of our time here shortly.

Here are a few of the emails I sent on our way home:

And We're Off!
Wed, Aug 6, 2014 at 11:24 AM

Hello from South Africa!

Here's a quick update: We arrived at the Gaborone airport two hours before our flight to Johannesburg was set to leave. And we discovered that our flight had been canceled and we had been put on a flight that left this morning. No one has told us of the change. T.I.A. ("This is Africa"). They put us on an SA Express flight that left the same time as our original flight, and the new airline provided lunch and drinks! Praise the Lord for His provision!

We will be boarding our flight to London at 7pm local time (1pm EDT).

Good Morning!
After a fairly sleepless eleven hour flight, we landed in London on a beautiful, hot summer day. I don't think we're ready for the muggy summer weather that awaits us in the U.S.

Our flight to D.C. leaves at 11:30am local time (6:30 Eastern) and lands at 2:50pm Eastern.
