50 Ways to Pray
Last month, some of the women involved in Pittsburgh Metro Cru decided to start praying for men and women in light of the opening of Fifty Shades of Grey. I'd like to invite you to join us in praying!
50 Ways to Pray for 50 Shades of Grey!
• That women will seek their identity in God, not relationships
• That women will realize the value of private intimacy
• That young girls will not see the movie as a standard for love
• That men will desire to guard a woman's heart
• That God-seeking men will strive even more to be of Godly character
• That Christian dating/engaged couples will not see it as a way out
• That married couples will remain true to each other and their vows
• That women will recognize their treasured worth and value from the Lord's love
• That women will realize their position of submission their husband is out of respect, and
not of obligation or lower status
• That men will love their wives and cherish their opinions
• That dating couples will set clear boundaries
• That accountability will be established among God-seeking men
• That accountability will be established among God-seeking women
• That children will look up to the beautiful role models of a healthy marriage
• That young boys will grow into gentleman and examples of Christ
• That incredible strength will be given to middle-school and high-school aged students to
avoid the immense temptations
• That parents will instill a Godly character within their children by example
• That an overwhelming flood of forgiveness and peace will be given to those who suffer from
regret
• That college-aged men will receive mentors in guiding them to be men of God
• That college-aged women will receive mentors in guiding them to be women of God
• That Christian communities will see broken people as treasures of the King and welcome
them without dwelling on past mistakes
• That support will be given to men struggling with sexual temptation
• That support will be given to women struggling with sexual temptation
• That those struggling with abuse will receive restoration and hope in Christ
• That there will be a radical change in the movie production world of how relationship
scenes are portrayed
• For the actors and crew that lived this for months on end- that their hearts and marriages
will see the truth of God;s love and the sanctity/purity of sex within marriage.
• For the catchy songs released from the soundtrack- that we will choose to listen to/fill our
minds with what is God glorifying and uplifting
• That this will spur us as believers to be open with struggles in order to show how God’s
mercy and grace can change hearts
• That men and women’s hearts see the need for mental, emotional, and physical purity
• That the church would be revolutionized in the way it equips people to battle sexual
temptations
• That we will, through God’s strength, combat this sex saturated culture
• That we will remember that sexual intimacy, within God’s plan of marriage, is not something
dirty but holy
• That instead of Christians pointing the finger at people reading/watching this, their hearts
will be convicted of the ways we need to crucify our own desires
• That women’s hearts will stop equating sexy with beautiful
• That this will stir our hearts to pray for the brokenness in our world and our own hearts
• That people will see that God’s redemptive love and re-vitalization of lives is strong enough
to help anyone battle their desires/temptations
• That people will see that true love and fulfillment comes from the Creator of our hearts, not
from the creators of the book and movie
• That we will be burdened to pray for those unwillingly part of the sex industry-such as
human trafficking victims
• That more and more sex traffickers will be stopped and prosecuted
• That healing and re-identity will take place in the lives of women involved in trafficking
• That because sexuality outside of marriage often produces shame, hurt, confusion etc, that
the hearts of men and women will know that they are never too far and it is never too late to
be healed and redeemed
• That people reading/seeing the film will recognize that it cannot fulfill them, and seek after
Jesus for fulfillment
• That this will prompt real and open discussions about love and sex, allowing God’s light to
shine into the darkness of our sex saturated culture
• That we, as Christians, will endeavor to understand Christ’s love for us, so that we can have a
Christ- centered love in our own relationships
• That people will see that no matter how broken, sinful or hurt we are, God can use our
brokenness for His glory and rebuild our lives
• That we will have the courage to walk in emotional, mental, and physical purity
• That we will hold on to the truth of God’s Word, instead of the lies of the world
• That more people in the entertainment industry will stand up for purity
• That we will remember that though striving for purity seems like an upstream swim, God
gives us strength and people to encourage us in our journey
• That people will experience the amazing freedom that comes from the true love of Christ !!!!
