CRU WINTER CONFERENCE /// BALTIMORE
Have you ever
experienced a moment of awe where you realize all of the hard work and
sacrifice are totally worth it? Throughout my twelve years on staff, that
moment has often come during our annual four-day Cru Winter Conference, and
this year was no exception.
This year, 1200
students and 300 staff gathered in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor to learn from great
teachers, worship the King, and catch vision for living life missionally
wherever the Lord may lead. I was only able to attend two days, but those two
days were packed full of goodness.
Because I am
officially considered a Staff STINTer working on Ministry Partner Development,
there wasn't really a "place" for me this year. When I was campus
staff in Indiana and Pittsburgh, I had students and staff to care for and lead
at the conference and held a conference job like all the other campus staff.
When I worked with Global Missions, I was planning events and meeting with
students to answer their questions and challenge them to take steps of faith.
This year, I was simply being sent. I joined ten other laborers on stage as the
Global Missions team cast vision and prayed over us. (See photo above. The
blurred faces are friends who are going to secure locations). When it was my
turn, I said, “My name is Kirstin Heyne, and I am going to Birmingham,
England.” From around the ballroom I heard cheers from students and staff I
have worked with over the years. That was my “it is worth it” moment this year.
The Lord has used me and will continue to do so.
This season of
preparation has taken longer than I planned and longer than I would like it to,
but then how often does God really ever work the ways and on the timeline we
expect Him to? He is mysterious, and His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah
55). As I call and meet with new people and cast vision for ministry in the UK,
my heart breaks over and over again for those students who don’t know my sweet
Savior or the joy of walking with Him. I can’t wait to get there! Making Christ
known is worth every sacrifice.
PRAISE AND PRAYER
Praise the Lord for continuing to be
faithful in this season of MPD. He has provided more new partners to join us in
ministry to and through college students! We keep moving closer to being at
100%
Adam is currently detained once again.
His immigration process is still full of unknowns, but we have done everything
we can do at this point. Now we wait and pray. Please join us in praying for
positive outcomes and for patience as we wait (and wait and wait). The Lord is
meeting me in the midst of all the unknowns, but it’s still a struggle.
Pray for the students who attended Cru
Winter Conferences all over the country. We hope that those who made decisions
to take steps of faith would be bold and that every student would continue to
seek the Lord daily.
